"All my days I have been in custody, I keep building different houses in my mind. Even though I’m in the immigration process, I have hope that one day it will happen, I will get some of those houses."

I chose to participate in this program by drawing different sizes and designs of housing plans (called “blueprints”) because as a refugee who was living in the refugee camp in Uganda, I was working in construction but without means to get me one of my dream houses. But when I came here to the USA, I hope that one day in my life, I will have a house that looks like this. See the pictures mailed to you.

All my days I have been in custody, I keep building different houses in my mind. Even though I’m in the immigration process, I have hope that one day it will happen, I will get some of those houses. I draw some houses in the African style where the kitchen is outside. The building and some of them big houses with one bathroom. While here in the US, I didn't get a chance to join a construction training school, not because I did not like it, but because of a lack of references and resources.

As a refugee or immigrant, we don’t have enough resources to know where exactly we can start from, but now I’m ready. I know now where I can get vocational training schools in my area, state and even county or city. I have a dream and I hope one day I will achieve my goal to be a contractor or a construction subcontractor.

Thank you for your time reading.
