Empowering individuals in immigration detention to create and original artwork. Art becomes both testimony and vision — exposing the lived realities of detention while affirming the humanity, dreams, and resilience of those inside.
About the Program
Art as Advocacy responds to the erasure and emotional isolation of detention by positioning creativity as a powerful form of resistance. We provide art supplies, stipends based on funding, and optional prompts to support reflection, healing, and self-expression.
Submitted artwork is showcased in a community exhibit in Chicago and preserved in this public digital archive, creating new pathways for connection, understanding, and collective action.
